about

Hutter’s carriage drivers deliver him to the edge of Count Orlok’s realm before turning back in fear. Hutter crosses the bridge and is met by a mysterious phantom horseman and his black carriage.

In the 1922 film, director, F.W. Murnau cleverly converts the world to a negative image in one scene while keeping the horse and carriage draped in “black”. He did this by filming the horse and carriage draped in white so they would become black again in the negative.

Ambient electronics and manipulated samples create a swirling, dream-like atmosphere for Hutter’s travels. At last, Hutter arrives and is greeted by a swarm of bats and a creaking castle gate.

Our 2021 album is a tribute to the works of Poe. ... more
